Peter Cook

Born Derby England

Moved as a child to South Africa in 1976 returned to the Uk in 1999.

I moved to France in 2003 started my own business in landscaping and one day decided to do what I’ve always wanted to do. DIVE.

I started diving three years ago 2005. I got my first taste of diving in dive container at my local dive centre after five container dives I then moved to the open water at Veyrier du lac, Lake Annecy. There I dived all through winter by March the following year I had already started my PADI Divemaster which I completed in August that year.

In the mean time I did some travelling in March to the Red Sea great place great dives, the Brother islands was the first. This was my first experience in salt water and in warm water, well the vis was fantastic the colours wow, and the sea life amazing. My first diving trip away trip away and I get to see Turtles, Hammer head sharks, Manta rays, Napoleon wrasse, etc.

After that there were other trips but I always return to the lakes, maybe not the warmest or even the prettiest but some how fascinating.

After diving yet through another winter and even getting the chance to do some ice diving, The progressive diver in me wanted more, Rebreather and Tec diving were next taking me to depths of 96.2m but this was no longer enough, I now wanted to work underwater, and the next level for me would be commercial diving.

So in May this year I went to Scotland and started training at the Professional Diving Academy. Here I qualified in: Pro Scuba, Surface Supply Air Diver and Wet bell Top up this is the last step in commercial diving before moving on to saturation diving. Now the work starts, but my training as a diver will never end, as we all know a diver’s, training never ends as every dive is different and everyday brings its challengers.
