Interview with Todd Stevens
By Travel-Dive on 10 November 2008 -
Why did you decide to write Wreck of Colossus?
“I had moved to the Isles of Scilly, got out of the rat race, and changed my life. Within two months of doing so- fate pushed me to discover a large part of a new and important wreck site. Two years later on- a mass of controversy surrounded the find and I felt the need to give my side of the story; especially after channel 4’s Time Team program perpetuated misconceptions regarding the find and its history.”
How long did Wreck of Colossus take you to write?
“Six years in total; I had never done anything like it before and at first my wife had to teach me how to use a computer. I had also dropped out of school so the first one hundred pages were green and red with spelling and grammar mistakes; but when I had got those all corrected the computer crashed with the file irretrievable. Two years work went down the pan that day. After starting again it took a further four years to complete; all one finger typing.

Jean-Michel Cousteau interview: Part 2
By Travel-Dive on 19 October 2008 -
I have to say, Jean-Michel Cousteau really impressed me, take away the surname, the family history and you still have an individual who is as deep and complex as the ocean. With my several minutes of experience of interviewing people I was swiftly shown the art of interviewing by a master, Jean managed to convey to me and the audience the responsibilities we have as scuba divers as protectors of the ocean with the passion of someone who genuninely means what they say.

Richard Lundgren GUE interview
By Alan Edwards on 17 September 2008 - comments
Richard Lundgren is one of the reasons I want to try DIR diving someday, you will rarely meet a more humble man of such experience in any field of sporting excellence. If he is representative of DIR divers, then I am in.
Exploring the Explorers
By Travel Dive on 19 January 2006 - comments
Global Underwater Explorers is the new kid on the Scuba Training Agency block. Their courses, Fundamentals, Tech 1, 2 & 3 and Cave 1, 2 & 3 are increasing in popularity with UK divers, with a Fundamentals class being run almost every month now. For an agency who’s roots are firmly embedded in the Florida caving scene, it may seem surprising to the die hard, cold water, drysuited diver that anything is truly relevant to us and the way we dive. Images of divers with multiple stages and scooters deep underground prevail, what can this way of diving do for the average UK diver?
Rich Walker is out to change our perception of DIR. one of only two instructors active in the UK at present, he works hard to improve the image and understanding of GUE amongst the UK diving population.

Here in an exclusive interview with Rich, Travel Dive asks many of the burning questions surrounding Doing It Right and the issues it raises, plus what the future holds for 2006 and beyond.
John Boyle Underwater Film maker Interview
By Travel Dive on 20 December 2005 - comments
If you decide to have a venture into the wonderful art of underwater film making it won’t be long before you come across the names of John Boyle and his partner at SharkBayFilms Fionn Crow Howieson. Winner’s of every award imaginable for underwater film making they have dived just about any place worth going to. I warmed to these guys immediately from reading their book “A step by step Guide to Underwater Video”. It really underlined to me what underwater filming was all about. There are very few part-time UW film maker divers, you need to be fully committed to it even as a diving pastime. Divers either film or they don’t, simple as that. John and Fionn continue to be at the fore front of independent underwater film making in the UK and are as sound as they come.

Interview with a PFO Cardiologist
By Alan Edwards on 24 July 2005 - comments [1]
Travel-Dive has conducted an Interview with Dr Stephen Brecker, consultant cardiologist to Alan (T-D), who had his PFO corrected by Stephen last year, with the insertion of an Amplatzer device.
Stephen has performed over 300 PFO related procedures, and has a wealth of experience in this area. It is hoped that this interview goes some way to making issues surrounding the often misunderstood condition more transparent to the diver.
