Alan Edwards
Scuba diving is a part of me, I feel a sense of exploration when I dream about it and I hope that by defining my life through diving I may feel closer to mother nature and my origins. I may not be the world most frequent or experienced diver but I am at least one of its most enthusiastic.
My passion mansifestates itself in many ways, a need to film whatever I can underwater and the technical thril of diving on a Rebreather. I relive those dives on land by sharing the experience with others, hoping that by showing people how wonderful it is there that they will help protect our oceans.
My diving experience began in a over chlorinated swimming pool in Omagh, a try dive of sorts which put enough hooks into me to follow up with a PADI course in Birmingham. The Red Sea followed and various far away places. I was lucky enough to be able to train with some excellent technical diving instructors and experience the sharper end of diving.

By now momentum had taken over and I was already wanting to try a Rebreather and again was lucky enough to afford one and experience the delight of no bubbles diving. It was not easy since I have had to endure the odd medical issue along the way.
I never tire of the Sea and often think about my experiences on Land, these memories of the Sea help me get through life. Here are better words than my own which desribe how it makes me feel:
“I have no ‘stories’ to tell.
Breakining the surface of the sea, raoming in the deep waters of the Ocean, going down slowly, eyes open , watching the flicker of mullet, and the dance of the sea-bream, the butterflies of these liquid skies: this does not make up a “story”.
But if I do have stories, but if I do know stories, I have peraps lived a miracle, one which I want to talk about. I have travelled to another world I which “action is sister to the dream”. I have swept away in the heart of the sea, at a depth of several fathoms, all my anxieties as a man. Worries of the moment, scientific curiousity, metaphysical doubts, have all been hurled into the sea and I do not regret any of them.”
